Fixed Rope Route
Fixed Rope Route Via Ferrata Gemskopf
“Via Ferrata” means “iron path” in Italian and stands for a fixed rope route that is secured with iron ladders, pins, brackets and steel ropes. The fixed rope route at Glacier 3000 is at an exposed location and has some challenging passages that require lots of strength. The route goes over the Rocher Jaune, a yellow outcrop with several exposed sections and overhanging ladders. The Via Ferrata Gemskopf has a K5 level of difficulty and is located at the cable car middle station Cabane. You will find the signposted mountain trail “Cabane des Diablerets” and get to the start of the fixed rope route via the SAC hut. Get excited about an adventurous trip into the vertical with a fantastic view over the Saanenland.
The fixed rope route is accessible with the cable car Col du Pillon – Cabane or alternatively on foot on the hiking trail from Col du Pillon within 3 hours and from Reusch within 4 hours.
To go on the fixed rope route it is essential that one is in good physical shape, sure-footed, free from vertigo, has the appropriate equipment and knowledge about proper conduct on a mountain. It is recommended that a mountain guide accompanies you. Only climb if the weather is good. In case the weather changes or there is a thunderstorm risk, then leave the route. Going on this route is done at your own risk. Glacier 3000 declines any liability.
